Laziza Date Kheer Mix is a rice pudding mix with dehydrated dates, pistachio and cardamom, made by Laziza in Karachi. Cooked in milk it turns into a thick, caramel-toned kheer with soft pieces of date through it, a little richer than plain rice kheer. One 155g box serves six to eight.
How to use it
Bring one litre of milk almost to the boil, then pour in the whole sachet while stirring. Cook on a medium flame for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring at intervals so it does not catch, until the kheer is very thick. Pour into bowls or a serving dish, cool, then chill and serve cold. For a Diwali or Eid table, finish with slivered pistachios, chopped dates and a few strands of saffron, or set it in small clay pots.
