Fudco Green Raisins are long, slender green kishmish from China in a 700g bag, packed in a protective atmosphere to keep them soft. They are firmer and a little tangier than golden sultanas, the raisin of choice in many Indian kitchens, and the larger bag covers the heavy sweet making and gifting of the festive season from Navratri to Diwali.
How to use it
Fry the raisins briefly in ghee until plump and fold them, with fried cashews, through biryani, pulao and zarda, or stir them into sheera, kheer and gajar halwa. For vrat days, many families add them to sabudana kheer, makhana kheer or a mix of roasted makhana and nuts. They also make up Diwali dry fruit boxes with almonds, cashews and dates, and work in fruit cake and flapjacks.
