Fudco Desiccated Coconut Medium is dried grated coconut with a medium cut, preserved with sulphur dioxide to keep it bright white. The cut keeps a pleasant bite in sweets and savoury dishes alike. The 700g bag is the size for households that make coconut barfi, ladoo and chutneys often, and for the extra sweet making of the Navratri, Dussehra and Diwali season.
How to use it
For coconut ladoo, toast 300g of coconut in a tablespoon of ghee for two minutes, add a tin of condensed milk and a pinch of cardamom and stir over a low heat until the mixture gathers into a ball, then cool slightly and roll. For chutney or thoran, soak the coconut in warm water for ten minutes and use as you would fresh grated coconut. It also coats barfi, tops halwa and goes into cakes.
