Suryaa Red Puttu Flour is a ready mixed blend of rice and wheat flour, milled to the fine, slightly rough texture that steams into soft, reddish brown puttu. The two grains together give a softer bite and more flavour than plain rice puttu, served with kadala curry or coconut milk. The pack is resealable and the flour is a product of India.
How to use it
Following the method on the back, mix a cup of flour with a pinch of salt and gradually add half to three quarters of a cup of hot water until the flour is moist and holds together when pressed. Bring a little water to a simmer in the base of a puttu maker. Put a layer of grated coconut in the cylinder, follow with the flour, and repeat the layers, ending with coconut on top. Set the cylinder over the pot and steam for five to seven minutes until steam rises through the top. Push the puttu out onto a plate and serve hot.
