Shree Krishna Roasted White Rice Flour 5kg

Shree Krishna Roasted White Rice Flour is milled in Sri Lanka from white raw rice and dry roasted before packing, so it is ready for string hoppers and pittu straight from the bag. The 5kg size suits households that steam idiyappam or pittu several mornings a week, and the roasted flour gives a smooth, white dough that holds together well in the press.

How to use it

The pack gives the method in one line: add enough boiling water to the flour, add salt to taste and mix well to make a dough. Pour the water in gradually, stirring with a wooden spoon, then knead while still warm until smooth and soft. For string hoppers, fill the idiyappam press, squeeze onto oiled trays in spirals and steam for seven to eight minutes. For pittu, use less water so the flour forms damp crumbs, layer with grated coconut in a pittu bamboo and steam until the top is cooked through. Serve with sothi, kiri hodi or a meat curry.
