Shama Extra Long Premium Basmati is grown in the Punjab region of Pakistan and selected for long, slender grains that stretch further as they cook. It has the classic basmati aroma and cooks up dry and separate, which makes it a natural choice for biryani, pilau and everyday plain rice.
How to use it
Wash the rice gently in cold water until it runs almost clear, then soak for 30 minutes. For plain rice, boil in plenty of salted water for about ten minutes, drain and rest covered for five minutes. For the absorption method, use about one and a half cups of water to each cup of rice, bring to the boil, cover and simmer on the lowest heat until the water has gone. For biryani, par boil for six minutes before layering.
