Cow ghee from Patanjali in the 500g tin, made in Britain from cow’s milk fat and nothing added to it. It has the grainy set and the pale gold colour of ghee clarified slowly, and a sweet, lightly toasted smell when it melts. This size suits a small household, or anyone who keeps ghee for finishing dal and brushing rotis more than for frying.
How to use it
Spoon it over hot dal or khichdi just before serving, brush it on parathas as they come off the tawa, or warm a little with cumin and dried chilli for a tadka. It keeps well at room temperature with the lid pressed on.
