Everyday chickpeas, cooked and ready in salted water with 240g drained in the tin: enough for a chana masala for two or a bowl of hummus. They are the standard size, soft enough to mash and firm enough to stay whole in a curry, with 6.8g of fibre and 7.9g of protein per 100g drained.
How to use it
Tip them into an onion, tomato and ginger masala with a spoon of chana masala for a quick chole, blend them with tahini, lemon and garlic for hummus, or roast them with oil and chilli until crisp. Cold, they make a chana chaat with potato, onion, tamarind chutney and sev.
