It keeps the sweet, nutty flavour of fresh coconut in a dry form that stores well, and Natco recommend it for curries, cakes, biscuits and ice creams. The 1kg bag is the size to buy for festival baking and sweet-making.

How to use it

For Diwali coconut barfi or ladoo, cook the coconut in ghee for a minute, add condensed milk or sugar syrup with cardamom, stir until it gathers into a mass and set or roll. Toast a handful in a dry pan until golden to scatter over kheer, halwa and modak filling. In savoury cooking, soak it in a little warm water and grind it into a coconut paste for South Indian curries and chutneys, or add it to a vrat-friendly sabudana khichdi. It also bakes well into macaroons and coconut cake.

Good to know

Medium-cut desiccated coconut

Contains sulphur dioxide

High in fibre, 17g per 100g

Suitable for vegetarians, 1kg bag

For a smaller pack, see Natco Desiccated Coconut Medium 300g, or browse all our desiccated coconut.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1101/7433/9411/files/natco-desiccated-coconut-medium-1kg-front.png?v=1791369579
