Euro Shopper

Euro Shopper is an own label found in independent shops and convenience stores across the UK and much of Europe, recognisable at a glance by its plain packaging. It covers the everyday groceries people pick up on the way home, with no frills on the box and nothing unfamiliar inside it.

We stock two Euro Shopper lines. One sits in baked beans and tinned pasta, the haricot beans in tomato sauce that almost every British child knows. The other sits in tea bags, an everyday black tea blend made for a mug with milk.

Baked beans are eaten on toast, beside a full English and inside jacket potatoes, but many South Asian homes also spice them: a quick tarka of cumin, green chilli and onion turns a tin into a masala beans side for parathas, and some cooks fold them into a cheese toastie or a bean and potato curry. The tea bags make an ordinary builder's tea, or go into a pan with milk, sugar, crushed cardamom and ginger for a fast masala chai when the loose leaf has run out.

Store tea bags in a dry, airtight tin away from the spice rack, as the leaf picks up strong smells. An opened tin of beans should be moved into a covered bowl in the fridge and eaten within a couple of days. For a stronger cup, compare our loose leaf tea range and the masala chai shelf.
